Pine Bluff 20/20
~ A Vision of What Can Be ~

 Successful communities don’t just wait for the future…any future…to
 happen to them.  They are the authors of their own destinies.
 Recognizing this, in his state of the city  address in January of 2007,
 Pine Bluff Mayor Carl A. Redus Jr. challenged the Pine  Bluff
 community and surrounding areas to engage in a process by which the
 community  as a whole would envision a successful future Pine Bluff
 and plan the means of  achieving that future. The community took
 Mayor Redus’s challenge to heart and, from  that spark, Pine Bluff
 20/20 was born.

 Pine Bluffians and others from the area are coming together in a spirit of
 consensus and  collaboration, determined to create a safe, successful
 and self-respecting Pine Bluff for  themselves and future generations.
 Participants represent a broad, cross section from all  walks of life,
including not only local government and business, but also non-profit organizations and, most importantly, the citizens themselves.

 Every citizen’s input is invaluable. We would like every citizen to take
 personal responsibility for this collaboration, not only for the planning,
 but also for its results.

 If you haven’t participated yet, it’s not too late to join the team. If you
 are interested in participating on a Goal Team, a group dedicated to
 working on specific projects for the advancement of our community,
 please email us at pinebluff2020@cityofpinebluff.com. Provide your
 name, neighborhood, telephone numbers, and in what areas your
 interests lie (race relations, youth, economic development, etc.).

It is the intent of the Coordinating Committee to have established the goal teams by July 6 with meetings beginning July 9.
For the most part, goal teams will meet every other week for sixteen weeks.
