"Introduction"
Bill was born and raised along Bayou Meto on a farm South of Lonoke, Arkansas. He attended Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1969.
He was recruited by Central Transformer Corporation of Pine Bluff, as an Electrical Engineer and achieved the distinction of Professional Engineer in Arkansas. He worked for W&A Manufacturing of Pine Bluff as a Quality Control Engineer.
In 1972 he joined the Pine Bluff Jaycees, where he served as Director, Vice President and in 1976 President. The top priority project that year was raising funds and installation of the Tornado / Emergency Warning System for Pine Bluff. In 1977 he was the number one Regional Director for the Arkansas Jaycees and in 1978 he served as Assistant to the President for Arkansas. In 1979 Bill was elected President of the Arkansas Jaycees and under his leadership the Arkansas Jaycees moved from number 49 to number 11 in the National Ranking.
After his successful year as President of the Arkansas Jaycees, Bill was recruited by Chase National Life Insurance Company to be Director of Manpower Development. The company increased production by 50 times in the first 18 months and the sales force increased by over 250%.
In 1982 Bill was selected one of Arkansas’ Ten Outstanding Young Men by the Arkansas Jaycees.
In June of 1985 Bill formed NewLife Insurance Marketing, an alliance of independent insurance and financial services professionals to combine their efforts to achieve better products for their clients. NewLife now has over 100 member agents in 5 states.
Bill is happily married to Judy and they have three children: Karen, Terri and Allen. Bill has six grandchildren and enjoys golf and hunting. He is a past member of the Downtown Rotary club and current member of the Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce, lifetime member of the Arkansas Jaycees and the Jaycee Senate, the NRA, Duck’s Unlimited, and the National and Arkansas Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and is a certified instructor with the Arkansas Insurance Department. He is a board member of American-Eastern Girls Fastpitch Little League Softball. Bill and Judy attend First Baptist Church where Bill serves on the Administrative Board.
Bill is a Third Ward Alderman for Pine Bluff and has served as Chairman of the Special Senior Citizen’s Center Committee and the Traffic and Aviation Committee. He is now serving as Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee, Liaison to the Council on the Chamber’s Urban Development Task Force, Chairman of the Information Technology Committee, Chair of the Advertising & Tourist Promotion Commission, and Member of the Pine Bluff Area Transportation Committee.
