From the Mayor’s Office

Greetings from the Pine Bluff Mayor’s Office,

Some recent tragic events in our community have been in our hearts and minds. Gun violence, once again, has had a devastating effect in our city. It has cost one young man his life and the young woman who allegedly pulled the trigger, her future. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the families affected by this tragedy.

Yet, even in this difficult time, we are able to see the good in our community. There was such a strong show of support for the young children and the staff of the Merrill Center who were affected by this incident. Community leaders, faith leaders, healthcare professionals, restaurants, business people, parents – all citizens of this great city came together in support of our youth.

As Mayor, I thank you for demonstrating the unity and resolve that will make a difference in our city. The generosity and compassion displayed by so many caring citizens is reassurance that our city has a bright future.

Special thanks to:

In Unity,
Mayor Shirley M. Washington
