History

ASC was founded in 1968, made a commission of the City of Pine Bluff in 1971, and accredited with the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in 2001. ASC presents programming in the visual arts, performing arts, and the sciences through exhibits, performances, classes, and local partnerships. Education programming occurs on and off site and area schools are encouraged to visit for free exhibition tours and hands-on activities. Classes are offered for children, youth, and adults with scholarships available. Gallery admission, hands-on programming, and school field trips are all free—thanks to sponsors, successful grant writing, and the generosity of the local community.

Mission

The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas serves as a cultural crossroad: engaging, educating, and entertaining through the arts and sciences.

Welcome

The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas serves as a cultural crossroad: engaging, educating, and entertaining through the arts and sciences.

The Arts & Science Center, located at 701 S. Main St. in Pine Bluff, is open Tuesday–Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Sunday and Monday. Gallery admission is free. ASC offers weekly and monthly programming in the visual arts, performing arts, and the sciences through exhibits, performances, classes, and local partnerships. Our educational programming focuses on the intersection of STEM and Art to create STEAM – arts & technology education. Gallery admission, hands-on family programming, school field trips, and after-school programming is free. Additionally, we preserve the cultural heritage of our region through the Permanent Collection and education and interpretation of that art, which addresses our secondary definition of the “sciences" to include the social sciences. We uphold the highest standards through our accreditation with the American Alliance of Museums and these standards emanate throughout our work in the community. For the past 50 years, ASC has operated for the benefit of all citizens of Southeast Arkansas - ensuring access to the arts for everyone.
